The Violent Enemy

Sleeve Sypnosis:
Sean Rogan (Tom Bell) IRA cell leader is sentenced to 15 years hard labour for his involvement in a vicious crime. It appears that for seven years he is a model prisoner and applies for parole, expecting to be freed. When he receives the news that he has been turned down he goes berserk. Information is smuggled to him, that every Friday at 7.30, a car will be waiting by a bridge outside the gaol. He then plans his escape using explosives from his quarry detail hidden in the back of an excavator. He fakes illness, attacks the gaol doctor and blows his way out of prison, to be met by Hannah Costello (Susan Hampshire) another fanatical IRA member. The escape succeeds and the IRA plotters start a rampage of defiant Irish independence. Selfish motives multiply the danger with disastrous results...
