1948. Jor-El, a member of the ruling council of the planet Krypton, fears that the planet is in danger of falling into its own sun. Before its impending destruction, he and his wife Lara launch their son to Earth, where his molecular structure will give him superhuman powers. On the way he is programmed with all his father's knowledge. The boy is discovered in the American Mid-West by Jonathan and Martha Kent. In time he becomes aware of his special abilities and he leaves home for the far north. Jor-El's spirit communicates to him and for twelve years educates him on a journey through the universe. At thirty years of age he starts work as Clark Kent, a diffident, shy reporter on the Daily Planet. His secret powers as Superman are gradually revealed in a number of crime fighting exploits until he meets his ultimate challenge in Lex Luthor, master criminal. © Film Export AG.
