The most dramatic account of the notorious real-life gangland slaying ever put on screen with Jason Robards as Al Capone, underworld dictator of the South side of Chicago and Ralph Meeker as Bugs Moran, rival king of the North side of the city. The massacre itself when four of Capone's men, disguised as policemen, wiped out seven of the Moran gang in a garage on Feb 14, 1929 is brilliantly reconstructed by director Roger Corman who also allows the bullets to fly, windows to shatter and car tyres to screech as he follows the events that led up to the slaying. One of the most authentic gangster movies of the '60s and one that vividly recreates the dangerous days of Chicago in the late '20s. George Segal co-stars.
