'Extraordinarily moving...wonderful' Geoff Andrew, Time Out 'A Marvellous piece of magical wizardry' Alexander Walker, Evening Standard 'Beautiful... dazzling... still leaves us convinced that Davies is some kind of genius' Nigel Andrews, Financial Times 'A terrific piece of work' Arena Deep in the night, a solitary train winds its way through the dark countryside. Riding in one of the compartments is a sad-eyed sixteen year old boy, David (Jacob Tierney). As he peers out through a window into the darkness, David begins to see images of his life, fragments from his past. 'The Neon Bible' tells the story of a boy whose life in the American Deep South in the forties is deeply affected by his overbearing parents, and by his bible belt enviroment. The film boasts a remarkable cast including Denis Leary as the boy's father Frank and Gena Rowlands as Aunt May - a fabulously glamorous former night club singer who injects a dash of excitement into small town life. Based on the Pulitzer prize winning book by John Kennedy Toole, director Terence Davies has created an intensely vibrant and visually resonant film.
