"79 A.D., The Destruction of Herculaneum" is set in the magnificence of Imperial Rome, and has as its key figure the young and worthy general Marcus Tiberius, the nephew of the Emperor Titus Flavius. On his return into Rome, after a victorious campaign, Marcus Tiberius discovers how treacherous and devious is court life and how the safety of the Empire itself is endangered by the spreading corruption and by the perfidious scheming of ambitious and unscrupulous courtiers.
