This marvellously funny movie stars DUSTIN HOFFMAN as an out of work actor who makes himself up as a woman to get a job. Nobody will hire the rash Michael Dorsey because he has antagonised every producer in New York. When his girlfriend Sandy (TERI GARR) fails an audition for a soap opera Micheal dresses up as Dorothy Michaels' and lands the part. Michael's sole conspirators are his agent George (director SYDNEY POLLACK) and his room mate Geoff (BILL MURRAY). All goes well until 'Dorothy' falls in love with beautiful co-star Julie (JESSICA LANGE) and Julie's father, Les (CHARLES DURNING) falls for Dorothy. One of the most popular comedies of all time, TOOTSIE won JESSICA LANGE an Academy Award as best supporting actress.
