Sleeve Sypnosis:
Los Angeles, 1943, where a one-man war against crime is being staged by ex-cop Nick Popodopolis. He has a small office where he is threatened by a beautiful woman with a gun. In self defence Nick shoots her. Soon the police are on the scene - two stiffs in a week and this latest turns out to be the secretary to Dixie Ray, the movie star. A former movie queen, Dixie uses sex to manipulate everyone, but the tables are turned and sex is used against her - someone has a revealing snapshot which could ruin Dixie's comeback. She hires Nick to find out who is blackmailing her. There are numerous suspects, among them Barclay, the estranged husband; Dixie's daughter; and Tony LaMarr, a gambler. Nick discovers the voluptuous Leslie is Barclay's lover - and Dixie's daughter. He also discovers it is LaMarr who is blackmailing Dixie. Barclay wants to talk, but Nick finds him dead and is accused of the murder he didn't do. Passions flow and the suspense deepens as Nick is guided to the answer he is seeking....
