Invasion of The Bodysnatchers

A chilling remake of Don Siegel's '56 classic, this time starring Donald Sutherland with some of the original cast making cameo appearances, particularly Kevin McCarthy and Don Siegel himself. Set in and around San Francisco, it is a story of alien 'pods' coming to earth and inhabiting the bodies of people whilst they are asleep. The 'pods' are vegetables capable of assuming human form and soon it becomes difficult to tell the 'pods' from the people. The paranoia builds as the 'pod' population grows, zombies controlled by an alien intelligence. Some sequences in which the transformations are graphically portrayed, play disturbingly on the mind and the ending is truly terrifying in more ways than one. Prominent in the cast is Leonard Nimoy and also watch out for a brief appearance by Robert Duvall.
