Sleeve Sypnosis:
They were the cutting edge of combat...
The American Captain of a remote base in Vietnam has several teams of what he terms "killer units", one in particular is lead by a young Lieutenant who survived a savage massacre and now hunts the Viet Cong with the same ruthlessness. The young Lieutenant's "killer unit" is assigned to search out and destroy an arms cache in a village, they move in to the target village taking heavy losses but find no arms. The unit return to base only to be told by the Captain to go straight back to the village to find and destroy the arms. The young Lieutenant takes his men back and this time succeeds in linding the arms cache and destroying it. The Viet Cong in great numbers now surround the Platoon as they try to reach a rendezvous point to be lifted out by helicopter and back to base. The Platoon fight every inch of the way taking great losses, finally they reach the point of escape by helicopter but being heavily outnumbered they fight to the death.
