The Fortune Cookie

At a football game between the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings, TV cameraman Harry Hinkle (Jack Lemmon) is manoeuvring his camera on the 25 yard line when 'Boom Boom' Jackson (Ron Rich), a 220 pound half-back, gallops down the field, goes for the extra yard and steam rollers Harry like an elephant squashing a mouse. Recovering in hospital from mild concusion, Harry is visited by his brother-in-law William Gingrich (Walter Matthau) a lawyer known to his professional colleagues as Whiplash Willie. Willie knows an opportunity for the main chance when he sees it and persuades Harry that his injuries are alot worse - almost terminal in fact. Willie reckons he can sue the TV company and the football team for a cool million but unfortunately for Willie, Harry has a conscience. As they say, " You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time - but you can't fool all of the people all of the time". © Phalanx - Jalem Productions.
