"It is a unique motion picture experience." St. Louis Globe - Democrat Directed, produced, written and edited by David Lynch Cinematography and special effects photography by Frederick Elmes and Herbert Cardwell Starring John Nance and Charlotte Stewart A Mainline Pictures/A Libra Films release "Ever have a dream while sleeping face down, with your mouth and nose buried in your pillow? In your discomfort you might have conjured up something that approximates ERASERHEAD."

Our hero is Henry Spencer. The worst blind date imaginable. He dresses like a creep, but his most unendearing quality is his hair which stands straight up as if he had just stepped out of an electric chair. Henry lives in the type of building one fears ending up in when stranded in a strange town after all the decent hotels have closed down. Henry visits his plain looking, shabbily dressed girlfriend, Mary X. For dinner they have man-made chicken which spurts awful slime and moves by itself. Puppies lie on the floor nursing. Lights short-circuit and flick on and off. And we learn several things: Henry is on vacation from his job as a printer in a label factory, Mary has given birth to Henry's "baby", a mutant and Mary's parents insist that the couple marry. Mary moves into Henry's room, as does the "baby". It must suffice to say that the baby is hideous - especially when it gets a rash - and it is remarkable... ... And what you will discover when talking to people who have seen ERASERHEAD is a reluctance on their part to either answer questions about the film, or attempt to explain it... so nor will we.
