The man of violence in whose place Christ died The incredible story of the man they let free so that they could crucify Christ. Barabbas, a thief and a murderer, is pardoned by the people of Jerusalem instead of Christ. He then returns to a life of crime, is arrested and sentenced to hard labour in the silver mines. After many torturous years spent there, he becomes a gladiator and, eventually, a freeman.
