FOR ONE WEALTHY ARTHUR LIFE IS ONE LONG HAPPY BINGE, UNTIL...
Arthur is the world's most amiable drunk. And probably it's richest. He has never wanted for anything because everything he wanted has been for sale. His drinks cabinet would satisfy the 'happy hour' at a political convention.
Arthur's valet is the elderly and sardonic Hobson, whose dry observations, "You obviously have a wonderful economy with words Gloria. I'm looking foward to your syllable", and total calm even in a crisis are a great support to his employer.
But Arthur's family threaten to cut off his 750 million dollar inheritance unless he marries his wealthy debutante fiancee Susan. He is about to take their advice when he happens to meet Linda in a smart Fifth Avenue store, just as she's caught in the act of shop lifting...
